The clarity of the pronunciations--using a sort of letter system--is immensely faster and easier to use than the New Collegiate with its arcane system of symbols.The etymologies are also far richer. Also, having everything entered in the one index rather than in sub-dictionaries is a great time saver. There must be a reason why the Associated Press and hundreds of newspapers nation-wide select this dictionary as their style-guide.
