The show started great, and stayed fairly good through most of the show up through season 4. Somewhere around season 3 there is a noticeable difference in the writing or storytelling. where earlier, religion had been explored and left largely to coincidence and perhaps providence, when they introduce skade, social justice narratives start creeping into the storyline, again noticeably. But, at the end of season 4, they have exposed the main character as an abject failure with no glory. In order to appease the female centric vision of the SJWs , Uhtred not only fails to reclaim his own home, he GIVES away his crown, loses his woman, his children, and leaves the scene penniless and alone raising the child of another man. I cannot even compare him to a cuckold. Cuckolds typically at least have the minor compensation of getting to have the wife. This guy doesn't even get that. He is not a warrior, he is a wetnurse. It started powerfully and engaging, but the writing became sloppy, and incredulous.
