I have watched the National for years and rely on it for balanced treatment of current issues. I have never complained about anything on CBC radio or TV. Sadly, the National is losing my interest and sometimes frustrating me with the annoying repetition in programming. Please cut some of the commercials and avoid the "choppy" breaks between anchors. I have tried to give the new format a chance but for the most part I have to say it annoys me.
My biggest frustration has to be with Rosemary Barton. I find her entirely too familiar in her interview style and sometimes pushy, bordering on rude. A few examples would be the interviews with the Prime Minister...a little respect please...at least for the office and on the At Issue panel... interrupting or leading questions to guests who understand the issues much better than she seems to. I find it hard to believe that if she watched her own interviews she would not be sensitive to this.
I realize the CBC wants to appeal to all types of viewers but in doing so I believe they risk losing the integrity and gravitas they were once known for.
