Yes there are some bugs, and you’ll need reasonable hardware (PC) and maybe to fiddle with some in-game settings to get smooth performance, but it’s a truly beautiful game that runs well; holding 60 FPS rocking a 2070 at 3440x1440.
I’ve been excited for this game for years and sucked up all the trailers and everything I could get, and was honestly expecting to be disappointed. But the world is gorgeous and has way more depth than many reviewers are giving it credit for, the stories and characters are engaging and keep you invested, and in 50 hours I’ve found several combat styles that play SO different but are all equally fun and fit the theme and world so well. In love with all of it. Night City hasn’t ceased to be amazing yet, every time I plug in.
The game is not perfect. There are bugs that do need fixed badly, there are some things that hurt immersion a bit (AI driving is pretty awful for example), but I really don’t understand how people are getting stuck on these details based on other reviews I’ve seen. I think we’re seeing a lot of negative reviews because a large portion of the population is pretty heavily invested in getting lost in Night City. If you’re the type of gamer that snaps your keyboard over your lap when a bug in a single player game temporarily annoys you or makes you reload a save, or if your frame rate drops to 59, maybe wait. But for human gamers, buy immediately, and plan to burn some sick days.
As it stands right now, bugs, meh-optimization and all, this is a strong contender for best game I’ve played in 20+ years of gaming. Full stop.
