This movie, coming from a Mario fanboy, is a total blessing from heaven. Upon first announcement by Nintendo, I was elated upon hearing the news alongside many other gamers, Mario fans, and movie enjoyers that Nintendo was going in collaboration with the same people that gave us the iconic Minions, Illumination Entertainment. When I watched the movie, the inner child in me was rejoicing throughout. Getting to see my favorite character in cinemas was a moment of joy for me. The many references to the plot, it was enjoyable. Speaking of, I enjoy that they gave us not only a Super Mario Bros. Super Show reference with the commercial for the Mario Bros. business, but also made a realistic site. That was smart. In the credits theme, a lot of familiar themes can be heard. Super Mario Bros 1 (main theme, underground, underwater, level complete), 2 (main theme), 3 (mini boss), World (castle), and Galaxy (Gusty Garden). As for the voice actors, they have all done well. Aside from the backlash Pratt recieved for Mario, he has taught us all to "never judge a movie before its release", Anya-Taylor Joy bestowed a phenomenal job with Peach as she shows us the leadership Peach has by heart aside from the iconic "damsel in distress" many Mario gamers know Peach for. Charlie Day gave a very iconic view for Luigi as well as a relatable quote: "That is cinema". Jack Black, the same guy that gave us the endearing dragon warrior panda (Po) we all know him best for, rocked on with his performance with Bowser. Showed great energy to the public as well as voice. The song "Peaches" was the most humorous as well as the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Keegan-Michael Key gave us a much different perception of Toad as he potrays him as Mario's hypeman and overall a funny guy. Seth Rogen gives us a humorous (including his iconic laugh), and more cooler side of DK, Fred Armisen was okay, not much I have to say. As for the other VAs that have done their work, amazing job! Yet again, coming from a Mario fan, I rate this a 5 star. No hesitation, no second thoughts, FIVE STAR FROM THE HEART!! Thank you Nintendo and Illumination for bringing me as well as other Mario fans and movie enjoyers a blessing from heaven! Looking forward to a second Mario movie!
