1. People rarely if ever actually host or join a hosted mission, quest. 80% of the player base sit, idle, afk in the online lobbies.
2. Customization is the only selling point for this game. The gameplay mechanics itself was not a priority. And it shows.
3. The story is trash, it ignores 45 years worth of source material. It tries way to hard to lean more towards Gundam Build Fighters series the most. Followed by the after thought of G-Gundam. If you are expecting a Gundam game that is somehow linked or tied to the Manga / Anime. I did go through the whole story without skipping. I just don't recommend it.
The depiction of each scene goes as follows.
"Static busts of the actual character on a small screen next to the dialog box (Only Mouth moves)"
"Gunpla's using the limited total of seven Emotes built into the game to show expressions as the story progresses" This is the experience you will have as you progress throughout the story. Lazy. And Basic.
4. Combat lacks in a lot of fields. Firstly maps are really small. Each mission has 3 phases. You'll bump the edge or corner in each mission at least once or twice each phase. In each phase, Gunpla spawn, you fight, more spawn, you fight, some gunpla's are treated as a mini boss. Then you go onto the 2nd phase and repeat. 3rd phase is the same leading into a "Final Boss" of that mission.
Combat is just flat out repetitive and boring. After 60 hours you'll find the game repetitive.
5. Stats, Abilities, lack flavor text. There isn't any detailed explanation on what certain abilities and stats do. Zero information that tells you what "Wild Dance" does. For example. The game has it's own description and take on specific abilities and stats. So even if you are used to JRPGs, or MMO's the stats in Gundam Breaker 4 lacks an in depth description. You have to rely on 3rd party websites such as YT to get a better understanding as to what certain stats and ability effects does. And even when you get an idea it's still a bit confusing.
6. Online is basically dead. Sure at the time of writing you have 1000+ active players according to steam charts. But 80% of them are not actually playing the game. roughly 20% is actually playing the game, as in doing missions. If you host a mission it'll be a while before someone joins. That's if someone joins.
The player base is dropping with each passing week and that's normal. But about 2 weeks after release hardly anyone wants to host or join a mission. Not making this up. So if you do get this game. Don't expect a lively active ready to play player base.
(Overall the game is mostly negative to me.) With all things considering. The only saving grace it has is the fact that there are over 250 model kits. And you can mix match parts customize colors, and basically cosmetically give your gunpla a makeover. That's literally it.
Gameplay is meh, Online was pretty much dead on sight. Story was the worst I've ever witnessed. Cutscenes are extremely basic and low effort. Using the in games emote system is a total joke in itself for the game to convey each cutscene.
No I don't recommend it. Unless if all you care about is Customizing a Gunpla.
