I'm glad I didn't pay to sit in a cinema to watch this. It's not bad...not bad at all, but with such a young cast (mostly not well known) I feel it was trying to re-boot some elements for a younger audience...and I'm not sure that worked that well. Having said that...it was pretty solid- good special effects for the most part, and certainly a lot less concerned with the conceptual nonsense from last few Alien franchise movies. We got some terror, some horror (which is what we want) and a few logistical quirks which worked sometimes...but not all the time. As ever the standout elements were H R Gigers original Xenomorph visuals...which I doubt will ever be surpassed.

The character development and quality writing is what makes this so compelling...as well as the twists and turns of the story. Superb acting from all the primary players make it feel real and edgy. A tour de force, unlike any other series I've seen. Already into season 4 and it's just great...

Best show of 2021 by a country mile...in fact best show in a long, long time. It would be selling it short to say it was like Ray Donovan with a taste of Tarantino for good measure....just superb writing, acting and a gritty realism that is both emotionally charged and hard hitting- as well as funny. A real tour de force- and not to be missed.

Watch it if you can. The disappointment that some felt over the ending was understandable...when something so magnificent and beautifully wrought comes to an end, there is bound to be anger, disillusion and social media uproar. Forget all of that. It is not to be missed- a sprawling, Shakespearean spectacle with love and hate, sex and violence, tenderness and brutality...a journey into another world that goes beyond fantasy or science fiction. Just watch and be transported.
