This film was made as more of an artistic expression than for the satisfaction of the audience. Nolan’s grandiose ambitions brought this to the big screen, not a desire for you to like it or even understand it. Many artists’ favorite works are the ones that many other people (the audience) find as self-indulgent and are ultimately poorly received. This is no different. While Nolan created his own masterpiece that stretches the inquisitions of the imagination, I was left irritated that he thought he was smarter than me.
