Wow. What to say.
First off for all horror cinematographers please take note. I am so bored of everything being blue filtered. It is predictable, overdone and makes it VERY hard to see things in the shadows (especially that wendigo in the forest in this film). How is not seeing the things that are supposed to scare you scary?
Secondly, is that Drew Barrymore's kid? Ellie looks EXACTLY like Drew in E.T.
Third, John Lithgow was great.
Fourth, although I do not agree with the choices made in the film to stray away from the source material (Ellie) I can understand why the choice may have been made logistically. It is very hard for a two year old to convincingly carry the kind of performance that King wrote for Gage IRL. However, the change was uninspired.
Final thoughts. If you have never read the book, are not a King fan but do like horror this is OK (especially since it is streaming on Netflix).
If not skip this one...
