Ultimately the writing on the new season is awful and there is no depth to the characters (not to the fault of the actors necessarily). And I hate that this bad writing is giving people the excuse to say that its overly politically correct, when really the same ideals of equality and pacifism were touched on in previous series but in a less obvious and blatant way that doesn't across as patronizing. Season 9 did this brilliantly where it was still interesting and was worked into a well thought out original story. This season also has no story arch so you never feel like the season is going anywhere and its just not as gripping.
