Tim strikes me as someone suffering from Narcissistic personality disorder, as per Mayo clinic's symptoms:
- Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance - he invaded bears territory while claiming protecting them;
- Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration - note how many takes he did over and over to embellish himself in his own documentary;
- Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it - he claimed to be the only one dares to camp right on bear path and will survive, as he knows how to live with bears that no one else before or after him can achieve;
- Exaggerate achievements and talents - he failed and re-invented himself including lying, faking Australian accent ...etc before found a new life meaning "living with grizzly bear" , look up his bio;
- Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate - in this case grizzly bears in Alaska;
- Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people - again with grizzly bears;
- Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior - watch how at repeated length he scolded Park Service when he violated their rules;
- Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with their expectations - see how he demanded rain so that there is enough water for the salmon run, not just his demand but how he demanded was like Trump claiming election was stolen;
- Take advantage of others to get what they want - he dragged his girl friend Amie into her tragic death with him, as Amie wrote in her Diary she is afraid of bears. She does not share the same interest but would have been deceived by his flamboyant madness;
- Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others - previous short-term girlfriends did not come with him to camp on bear path, and for the one coming, Amie, he obviously never thought about Amie feeling about bears and/or cared for her safety;
- Behave in an arrogant or haughty manner, coming across as conceited, boastful and pretentious - watch for yourself, the above examples are more than enough.
One more thing, the documentary producer -Werner Herzog, while credited for interviewing many people for different perspectives, failed to interview those who sponsored Timothy Treadwell to camp at grizzly bear territory, to see how they, e.g. Leonardo DiCaprio, presented their views on Tim's tragic death! IMO, they took advantage of a nutcase to advance their selfish celebrity purposes, regardless of his life being endangered! They should be held responsible for the indirect cause of his and his girlfriend's horrible death!
