!!!MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
The game makes you come to terms with not only your actions in part 1, but also your actions in the first half of part 2 in such an astounding way, that at times I found myself physically uncomfortable to proceed, and I was literally begging out loud for a course of action to be taken/not taken.
Nothing exemplifies this better than Alice, the German Shepard. In the first half, she's a bloodthirsty animal trying to bite my face off. But then, I see her as no more than a household pet (and I'm forced to play catch with this dog who by this point, I've already brutally murdered).
But that's the game for you. It isn't happy. There's no payoff at the end. It's an exhilarating experience that at times had me furious, at times in tears, and by the end I was left feeling exhausted. The storytelling is nuanced, masterful, and makes you explore human morality like no other form of media I've ever consumed. Kudos to Naughty Dog for having the courage to make a game not everyone will like, but a game that will make people reflect upon their own actions.
