This game is an absolute letdown. Far too easy and far too slow. Though I do think Thousand Year Door is the best in the series and would love for a return to it in future installments to the series, I was still open to a different kind of game. I honestly think it has so much going for it, and definitely appreciate the fresh ideas it brings to the table, as well its amazing visuals and soundtrack, but all that just serves to make me more frustrated, because the game is simply not fun. Everything is too slow, too repetitive, and the fact that it’s nearly impossible to lose gives me virtually no incentive to explore. There is a ridiculous overabundance of time consuming dialogue and unnecessary battles in this thing.
I’m genuinely astonished how much in the way of resources and talent went into this and in spite of all that it ended up being hardly any fun at all. Instead of playing this game, I would recommend booting up an old pokemon save file and running your lvl 50 pokemon through the grass in the first area to one shot ratata and pidgy for 12 hours while attempting to cancel your internet plan with verizon over the phone, because that would be just about the same thing, except you’d save yourself $60.
