Grading in advance. Should not do that perhaps! However I was there with my then, husband, who was an Army draftee.. We were two Twenty year old kids, stuck on Okinawa, in the middle of a mess. we attended FTA(Yes, I know what it means) though we were fearful of getting busted, as we were warned NOT to attend, by the Army.
I was nervous, on many levels, one was in having left our eight month old baby with our Okinawan land lady. I was not worried about her, she was great, but only concerned if we got busted by MP's.
All went well. the Army left us alone, though I'm sure they had knowledge of what theatre we were in, they did not bother the show. The show was marvelous! We were in the front row, and only a matter of a few yards from the cast! It was terribly exciting, and the stars performed as though we were royalty. We felt as though our group were the only group of people who understood the meaning of 'truth'. A magical night I will never forget. Jane Fonda has remained my hero for her talent and bravery. Bravery, because I could tell over the years, that she sometimes showed that things were tough, and she did them anyway, because she knew she had to do what was right. Perhaps not easy, but right.
Jane, I thank you from the bottom of my twenty year old body, for keeping me sane on a night in Okinawa!
