I'm a longtime fan of VD & Originals. I think those shows in a way were apart of my youth. I'm happy to know that the new generation of kids will get a good show like those to be apart of their youth in which every episode contains some valuable Gem that is applicable to life.
Critics: the story sometimes seems too childish. I think the premise of the story is great, but i envisioned this show being more like an Avengers for ages 15-25 and its something more like 12-17. The season 2 finale cemented that for me with a spin-off on little red riding hood. I never feel that they are in real danger. In Originals, every villain, every battle seemed pushed to the limits of what was possible for them to handle and they always overcame but with some losses involved. In vampire diaries there was a battle between a good brother & a bad brother and love; a very similar story to Legacies. However, in Legacies it's never felt. In vampire diaries, you hated to love Damon while knowing he was the representation of Good at its evilest. With Stephan you loved him but witness how those who are innately good are battling with a repressed monster inside. With the twins and Hope, you see the twins fighting their personal battles but their battles do not have consequences, the same as in VD or Originals. Basically kill of somebody lol (hopefully not MG) or make the battles they go through more personal to use viewers.
It seems the overarching battle for the girls + side characters is the freedom to love and to be kids. However life (Malivore) won't allow that. These kids somehow overcome adult-size problems but in a kid-like way. This is where watching this show hurts me. Its lacking real impact from achieving goals and the refresh rate of villains doesn't build up anticipation. When they finally do hold onto a villain the choice was a silly man whos most defining moments were screaming "The Necromancer".
He's not scary, he not loveable, we don't even hate him. Just wish for him to do something awesome like bring Claus so a real villain can show us how it's done.
PS Please, please... PLEASE bring back Claus. give him Chambre de Chace therapy idc but we need him
Maybe when hope becomes a vampire, she could use a tutor, the combined mind of Clause & Elijah in one Claus body idk. Just throwing thoughts out there
