I watched this movie for the first time last night. I quite enjoyed it, but it was strange. Keanu Reeves was brilliant as Neo, and fit the role quite well. But there a lot of unexplained things. For example, how was the world in 2199? Why were they in an illusion, instead of trying to rebuild what had fallen? By the looks of the people who had discovered 'The Matrix', Laurence Fishburne seemed to have picked them at random. Although, I enjoyed the fight scenes and loved Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith, which was a small role, but he was good. So overall a good movie, but with a range of flaws.

This movie was brilliant. I saw it twice in cinemas, then bought the disc and have watched it twice since. It is not without its flaws though. It has an elaborate plot that, although it is brilliant, is sometimes hard to understand. Joaquin Phoenix shows us his immense talent and range of acting skills, taking the Oscar for best actor in this film. Robert De Niro played his character well, which was a nice change from what I saw in The Irishman just a week before. So, overall a brilliant film, but not deserving of five stars.
