This film had my anxiety through the roof. Adam Sandler keeps you on your toes after putting himself in one bad situation after another, leaving you to wonder how he's going to get himself out of it. The movie is full of irony. The viewer is completely unable to guess what is going to happen next and the plot always takes a unexpected turn. There was no clear explanation to much of what is going on, the viewer is basically just dropped into the middle of a story with no satisfactory "happy ending." It's definitely not your typical "mystery-type" movie in which some people can figure it all out within the first 30 minutes-no, rather it goes against typical movie norms and keeps the viewer unable to predict the outcome.
