Apart of the show's quality, which is really high, I feel there is another reason that put this show top rated, and that is politics. The show is brilliant technically. The storyline is fascinating. Undoubtedly Chernobyl accident was a disaster in the history and it was truly Soviet authorities' fault. However, the media play a key role to make this miniseries trended.
