Reexamination of Kitty Genoveses murder through her brothers experience. Although the initial message is that journalists exaggerated the degree of apathy to her killing by the high rise neighbors the facts remain clear: that she was killed over the 30 minute corse of two attacks with her friend arriving after the second one to be with her when she died. and she was the only person who did more than peek out from a window or door. The informants who claim to have called the police must have waited quite a long time from the initial screams since we are told at the outset that NYOD has a two minute response window at the time. If they had been called right away her life might have been spared. and that conclusion stands today. The depressing theme of apathy captured by the iconic title “38 witnesses” is upheld by most of the narrative even when the producers may not intend to do so. Yet we learn more about this energetic warm person whose life was so ruthlessly shortened which makes the film worthwhile.

Suspenseful with mostly interesting characters. Well-acted except for the younger parts.
