It’s an interesting take on how modern people would react if someone who is clearly either the Messiah or someone acting an awful like One suddenly showed up.
The show teases us a lot with seemingly miraculous occurrences, followed by somewhat mundane explanations for the miracles.
Overall, it was an interesting thought exercise, but all too frustrating. Most of all, if the Messiah returns, I hope their answers and statements are a little less perplexing.
BONUS THOUGHTS
• I loved the scenes of the town after the tornado, if only because I’d love to have seen them dress the set!
• I can’t be the only one who, after hearing al-Masih deny he’s the Messiah, immediately quoted Life of Brian: “Only the Messiah would deny His divinity!”
• Once his caravan goes large and they go to Washington, how can al-Masih continue to walk around by himself? I mean, that hood is the worst disguise since Clark Kent! He’d be mobbed instantly by either supporters or detractors. Everyone would either want him to heal them or would be trying to disprove his Messiahness in some way.
