Who Framed Roger Rabbit may not have jump-started a new evolution in film, but honestly, that might be one of the reasons it's so one-of-a-kind. On a technical level, it's truly unique, as no mix of live-action and 2D animation has ever looked this good or had this many crossovers. On a storytelling level, it's also amazing, how they get across so much character and information in such a tight amount of time without having to over-explain everything. It's also impressive that a character like Roger doesn't become annoying. He's still authentic of that time period, but is perfectly funny and agitating in the way the film needs. All the acting is stellar, it's wildly imaginative, it looks amazing, even the music is absolute first-rate. Even though this movie won't start any cinematic universes, it still works on a variety of levels. So, if you haven't seen it in a while, take another watch and rediscover the best of your childhood with just the right amount of an adult edge.
