This looked interesting so i watched episode 1 then the other 3 on the I-Player,i wish i had not.Apart from the pretty decent acting it`s yet another pretentious psycho drama/existentialist rubbish that really is pretty awful.Lucy Mangan of the Guardian gave it 4 out of 5,that tells you all you need to know.The pacing is painfully slow,is "The Hum" supernatural,is it of alien origin,is it something other ?....Even the focus group/hippies who meet to discuss it are so annoying that you really don`t care.Like tinnitus you hope it will eventually go away,i wish this garbage had gone away before i gave it a try.

Trite,clichéd,filled with every Horror trope possible,this film is pretty awful.The premise being that scavengers are hoping to salvage what is left on the Nostromo that has been found drifting in space,this is the same Nostromo that was destroyed when Ripley activated its nuclear self destruct mechanism....you see the problem here.Having a cast that has barely passed puberty only exacerbates things and it all just feels so unoriginal and lite.

After the increasingly downward spiral-pun intended-of the Saw franchise from Saw III onwards,I really hoped this new/fresh (?) take on things would be worth a look.Well thanks Virgin Media for charging me £4.99 for this guff....Meant to be a prequel of sorts-so I'm informed-it takes us right back to the beginning of John Kramers illness.Apart from Tobin Bells acting there is very little to recommend this film,its not very well directed/edited,it jumps all over the place,the pacing is sluggish and as it runs for nearly two hours,it really drags...and Shawnee Smith really has let herself go over the past few years,is that a wig ?....I was really bored and tempted to turn it off after one hour,that should tell you the effect it had.

SPOILER ALERTS !!.......As with most modern Horror films these days,the trailer implies it`s much better than it`s going to be.With a running time of 85 minutes-of which over 5 minutes were end credits-i did not hold out much hope for character/plot development.The idea is interesting but the build up is painfully slow with nonsensical lapses in logic-E.G...How long had the sister been locked away before she decided to begin tapping on the walls,did she wait for Halloween and how could she have known what time of year it was ?,why did she seem to be some type of supernatural entity when to the parents she was nothing but a malformed human child.At the 60 minute mark i was ready to cut and run but i decided to watch till the end-it picked up a little but barely by much....and finally why did Peter not return to school after the incident with the bully,was he expelled ?...I can`t actually remember hearing any explanation at all.

Dr Who a feminist ?.....While "she"-so far-does not appear to be an angry,man hating lesbian-because that`s all a feminist is-she certainly dithers about like some bubble headed Malibu Stacy with non of the wit,charm or guile of David Tennant or Matt Smith.i`m from the Patrick Troughton/Jon Pertwee/Tom Baker era and I hated the Peter Capaldi version of The Dr so I hoped Jodie Whittaker would be a breathe of fresh air....Sadly inane stories-which let down the Capaldi era-boring,cliched,dysfunctional family type companions do it no favours but when all is said and done,it`s the weak scripts that let it down....

Only stumbled across this film on the Horror channel last night-16/6/19-never heard of it before.I assumed it was one of those direct to dvd type films that Horror shows that are mainly American and cost about £35.00 to make,glad I decided to give it a go.I was hooked from the off,a British Futuristic Science Fiction film that was serious,dark,had some great music and VFX that were much better than expected....All in all a real gem.
