To me, one of the things good science fiction does is raise questions about the nature of existence, and while it can ask many questions it doesn't have to provide all the answers. The audience is then imbued with lingering thoughts of "What if..." long after the story is told. This movie does push me into that territory. Time will tell how much. The cinematography and the sound is good. Some of the special effects are beautiful and they are paired with a meaningful musical score that helps carry the emotional elements of the story. With a somewhat limited amount of dialog and just three characters (four if you count the ship) there still isn't a painful lull in the pacing of the story, but it is measured throughout. The pretty quickly steamy romantic relationship of the shipmates was smoothly transitioned into, and the tastefully done lovemaking scenes were some of the most powerful in the movie. The acting and the story in general was pretty good. There were no plot hole "Oh, come on!!" moments for me. I do think there was room for some of the more poignant moments to be more impactful, but this seemed like possibly bits were edited out to maintain pace. All in all, it is a solid movie I'd recommend to hard science fiction fans.
