I would have scored the movie 8/10 generally but I settled for 6/10 haven read the points noted by professional critics. That's that- I still think the movie was good, captivating, emotional, and eye-opening.
Talking about reality- you don't waste someone's life (whichever way you decide to look at this😏) and still try to achieve the-good-guy status in the eyes of the public. This is what Robert did, in a nutshell (which he paid for with his life- and Melinda's too😥). By buying her the house back and giving her money, he simply wants to buy holiness in the eyes of the public; yet he didn't waste time moving on with that same woman that Melinda believes was her #1 problem in life. As if that's not enough, he went on living the life he promised Melinda, with Diana (exactly the way he painted it, and displaying it on the social media- obviously for her to see, and get mad every time).
I don't know much about morality, but I strongly believe you should be careful if you want to live extravagant and blissful life, while you surely knows that some people would be in better conditions by now, if not for your involvement in their life. You owe them that much to keep your great happily-ever-after life on a low key and don't mock them (either intentionally or whatever). Why? Because even if the law does not see your wrongdoing and even if the person involved (Melinda) cannot prove you're wicked and even if you are not wicked and even if you add all the possible evens in this list- you can still get the feelings/emotional/personal justice! This is what Melinda melted on Robert. And somehow I just now feel some folks (like Melinda) have dealt such punishments on some folks (like Robert) and no law caught them doing it; after all, you (Robert) were about getting away with it cos no law is catching you🙄
