Though it started out with a very tentative preach-y tone, it actually developed into a really fantastic show with interesting and complex characters. The way the girl's each had their own personalities and lives, while developing into better people, making mistakes along the way and learning from them. It was a genuinely good watch, you might have to struggle over the occasional cringe "stop mansplaning" line, but I think it's worth it in the end.
