PBS/NPR: One of your recent programs, or perhaps a merger of the themes of several of them, have encouraged me to mettre ''Ã jour-update" my observations from the bleachers of observing our fading western democracies and their angry, frequently more shrilly fascist rhetoric. I am the luckiest person on earth: I am a thrice vaccinated 80-year old white man in good health, living in rural Canada near the Vt border. I have the privilege of speaking 2 languages and am at ease with their respective cultures. I have been educated where I chose, travelled where I want and have never experienced famine, discrimination, war, poverty and any other fundamental or life threatening challenge. I hope my 45 year-old daughter will be as fortunate over the next 45 years on this troubled planet. Increasingly, US public broadcasting in both its forms, have continued to be my information ally of moderation, hope and trust. It is both a pleasure and a duty to support your activities. Cheers, Gary Richards
