I quickly became enamored with Yellowstone after binge watching the first 2 seasons. By the finale of season four, I have lost interest. It should have ended this season. Kevin Costner is the star in so many ways. Cole Hauser is excellent in his role as Rip. Rip’s story line is believable for me. Beth’s character ruins the show - She’s an alcoholic psychotic bully. Jamie’s character is also unbelievable for me - he is cast as a villain because Beth went to him for help with a problem she created. When the consequences of her behavior didn’t turn out the way she thought it should, she set out to destroy Jamie and turned a drama into a trashy soap opera.
Dutton raised his children as chess pieces, each to serve a particular purpose when they became adults. Lee disappointed, Jamie disappointed, Kayce is coming around, Beth continues to be adored because she can win battles. From the few clips of Ellen Dutton, Beth has come by her ugliness honestly. Rip, the almost son, has been Dutton’s biggest success.
I enjoy the story line around the ranch, the bunkhouse, political moves, potential land grabs for development… I don’t care about launching Jimmy - a totally unbelievable character - into his own series.
Will I watch season 5? Probably.
Am I interested in 1883? Yes. Will I pay more to watch it on Paramount +? No.
Will I watch 666? No.
Do I think Sheridan should stop writing parts for himself and develop the characters he’s already created? Yes.
Does anyone reading this really care about my opinion? No. But it gave me an opportunity to vent.
Kevin Costner, please say goodbye to this poorly developed, trashy soap opera and make another movie. With your talent, you can do so much better.
