What a terrible movie. A mix of Highlander and Wolverine healing factor. The movie takes itself too seriously. Too much talking and not enough action. We’ve seen this type of story before. We don’t learn enough about characters to develop a real love for them. Highlander had flashbacks to Connor’s previous life and presented to us the real tragedy and curse of being immortal while The Old Guard talked us to death. I don’t mind LGBT characters in media but when a character is solely on screen for this purpose with no other redeeming qualities it becomes annoying. The music did not fit the movie. The music made it feel like a cheap movie with no effort put into it. The story quality along with music made this feel like a really bad television series that gets canceled after the first few episodes. The only good thing about this movie is it’s action but the rest of the movie is so dull that standard viewers will probably turn it off out of boredom before seeing these action sequences.
