It is indeed a great challenge for Team-Maniratnam filming the unequivocal historical Tamil novel by Amarar Kalki. Numerous constraints involved in shaping this film compel the team to skip a few characters, some events and elucidations/descriptions found in the novel. Those who neither read the five volumes of the novel nor short versions of the story may struggle a bit to comprehend and correlate certain dialogues, flash back narrations and emotional expressions of the characters vis-a-vis context. It is an excellent team work and focused endeavour to present, rather gift Ponniyin Selvan to the entire world of inquisitive audience. Thanks to everyone (R) everyone who contributed his/her/its share to this venture!

Liked this movie. Interesting and not a minute we will be bored. Good time pass. Laughed to the full.

Well filmed story. The movie was shot mostly in Kumaon Area (to be specific the present Sainik School, Ghorakhal). Wonderful songs.

Good entertainment. Our family watched it together and laughed to our fullest.

There seem to be many factual errors pertaining to information on IAF starting from selection (It must be AFSB, not SSB), Sqn/Stn Social atmosphere, etc. Production team must have carried out more home work consulting concerned departments.
