Only watched 3 episodes so far, but I think it is really one of a kind K-drama. I love the romantic elements and how mature it is because we rarely get to see that in these kinds of kdramas, but more than that I loved the underlying themes.
Its not about the relationship itself but how Nabi has to change in order to actually ever have an equal footing in a relationship. Her past bf left her with so many emotional scars but it was also partially because of how naive she is. And she is still naive which is why Jae-won is able to get inside her head. Even though he is a red flag, she doesn't have enough conviction to keep her temptations at bay and gives in...which is a very human thing to do. Its like getting attracted to sinfully sweet chocolates knowing they'll destroy your health in some way.
Jae-won on the other hand though seems like quite a jerk (and he is), seems to be truly intrigued by her and gets drawn to her again and again. Maybe a person might feel the need of true fulfilment even if they are a smooth playboy. But then he suddenly acts in some way in the middle that makes the audience question him again and again.
I think its a very well written drama, especially for those who are mature enough to understand what's at play. Its raw human emotions and physical attraction that people feel at that age...and it doesn't always bear well for them. But nonetheless, it makes them repeat their mistakes again and again. Thats why it made me feel sad a lot of times. But I like that too, that it was able to extract that sort of weird bittersweet emotion from me.
The title "Nevertheless" is itself is like Nabi confessing her compromise to herself each time she falls for Jae-won and each time she gives another excuse for her inability to keep herself in check and I see her dilemma as a very human thing.
