Oh. Where to start? Awesome main theme and overall soundtrack.
Great setting and beginning. There are a few awesome scenes.
But I don’t understand what this movie is about. It’s about gremlin? - Not actually. There aren’t many sequences with it. It is a main enemy and gremlin ‘is around there’ all the time but not on the screen. Also it looks like that it makes pause for tea or something when movie trying remind us that ‘Hey we’re in war’. It’s about the war? - Not actually. Its just a part of the setting and I don’t think that if scenes with Japanese planes were cut something would change drastically. It looks like that these scenes were added to show that main character can shoot machine guns and that she is better that man around her. It’s not about realism for sure. It’s about strong female character? -Maybe someone can tell that. But she wasn’t build up through the film. She is super strong, super lucky, super skilled and so on... For me her character looks fake. Cool, but fake. All other characters around her are empty, useless dummies. Maybe there are other ways to build and show strong and independent characters without making everyone around completely useless and stupid?
And now it’s clear- this movie is about strong female, abusive husband, weak and irresponsible father of her child, bad and nasty males around her. And the poor gremlin that was unfortunate to be in this movie:)
