I wasn't expecting a Hollywood blockbuster. I had read a lot in advance in terms of reviews. That a relatively small production company had done it, and no clear direction of war would be used. In spite of that, a hugely underwhelming film that was incredibly slow to start and never really felt it had a narrative purpose. Its been a long time since ive had to really focus on not walking out of the cinema based on such excellent reviews. A huge huge disappointment.

I think all of these "best film of all time" should be considered by those who have read the book. Im sure it was a perfect crossover for those with expectations. While i absolutely loved both movies, i think hype built expectations higher than what i saw. Not having the read the books, i felt both movies were far too long. The ending was underwhelming and many characters didn't get much screen time versus what id expected.The special effects, cinematography and acting were phenomenal but in no way did i leave the cinema with the same movie appreciation of having seen Gladiator, The Matrix or similar. Unquestionably worth seeing on the big screen but somewhat ruined by the expectation of what the reviews say.

Clip looked amazing and Rogue One director had my interest. Absolutely phenomenal film. A bit arthouse, Hans Zimmer doing music with a random but of Radiohead which worked perfectly. So glad it didn't have a big name as the lead. Most certainly one of my favourite movies this year. See it on the big screen!

Decided to give this title a try having read endless strong reviews. Despite reading the description and title in advance, I didn't expect to be sucked down a memory tunnel 20 years old where I worked in Australian restaurants at varying points during my travel year of that country. The film is so phenomenally on point in terms of the tension and yo-yo between out-front and out-back of shop. The one-shot-flow makes it feel even more 'fly on the wall'. My only two criticisms are the ending being so abrupt, and my stress levels feeling alarming high when it had fully finished, considering I'm stretched out on the couch. Regardless, full marks to all involved in the creation of this movie for doing what so many films try (yet fail) to achieve.

Saw Top Gun movie last night. Tom Cruise may well be a strange one but by God can he still make phenomenal action movies. Funny, cheesy, emotional and probably some of the best action you're likely to see on the big screen. People were applauding before it started and when it finished. See it on the biggest screen possible when the cinema is full 🤗

a steady burning candle of a movie that occasionally sparks in places. Despite some not so believable things, it remained compelling and engaging. Strong yet subdued performance from all the cast, beautifully shot and with a score that perfectly intensifies the direction of the film. Somewhat lacking a little swashbuckling action in parts, and slightly longer than it should have been (Stay clear if your preference is Bruckheimer or Marvel lead action). Ad Astra met the expectations I had heard of. We left the cinema in agreement it was an excellent effort. Another notch for Pitt.
