This entire play that everyone is gushing about uses a simple-minded and ancient gimmick, turning things upside down. It uses using rap music and casts white historical figures with others. This allows it to make a political statement that appeals to and flatters a large group of people. Smart But the point was to make a political statement however valueless it may be. So let the gushing begin related to the "the greatness" of the play. But to me, save for the ham-handed racial recasting of white historical figures, this would be just a silly musical about Hamilton and other "founders". What's next? I know. A play about WW2 with Hitler and Ghering played by two Black men who sing Yiddish folksongs. GENIUS!!!!!
