I felt nothing for the characters, this is a first for me. I love 'Love Stories' but this one brought me no tears, no laughter, and no pain. You would think Sylvie's predicament of being unwed and pregnant would have some dramatic after effects, but no she just marries a man that accepts her cheating on him while he is away...You would think that there would be some repercussions with her lover being told, by her dying father that the child she has is his-- that this would provoke some kind of heart felt situation, but I felt nothing again. With every scene of their interactions, I felt like everyone was going through the motions of telling a story and not actually living the story, if that makes sense. Where is the scene where she tells her parents, nowhere. Where is the scene where she tells her fiance, no where. It is an empty story with no heart. Beautiful music and wonderful history lessons on jazz, but the story was just bland, you neither totally dislike it, but you definitely don't love it. You just wash it down with Kool Aid and accept it for what it is - a love story built on wishful thinking.
