Ignore the 1-star review bombers, they're just shills who've never watched it that are mad the show included black people in it. The show is not perfect for sure, it suffers from some lackluster dialogue in certain sections and isn't as well paced as the original, but the characters, animation, and storyline are still incredible, and the art direction is honestly some of the strongest I've ever seen from Powerhouse studios. The show is a technical marvel and it deserves a full five stars for that alone.

So... This is an odd one for me. As a follow up to Prime, it's awful. It completely changes that more mature tone that series held, and completely changed almost everything else technical about it: the animation has admittedly a nice cel-shaded look, but the framerate is so damn choppy, at times it's hard to really enjoy it. The characters aren't all bad, but it's clear a lot of their personality was dumbed down for a younger demographic. And worst of all, it completely threw out the meaning behind (spoiler alert for those who haven't watched prime) optimus' sacrifice at the end of the movie finale. But on its own, it's actually not that bad. Again, the colors in this show are AMAZING and easily the best part about it. The characters, although pretty simple, are still a lot of fun at times. And as for the story, aside from the return of Optimus, is actually pretty neat and continues that of Prime's very well. The action is also pretty fun, even if it would be a whole lot better without the frame rate issue. Overall, I'd give this show around a 6/10. It's a birthday of a guilty pleasure of mine. As much as I like a lot of the steps they took forward in this series, it still feels like they took about just as many back.

While most of the villains were extremely boring and kind of underwhelming threats, the overall story was really great, and uniting all of these characters we have gotten to know very well through their own independent shows was extremely satisfying. For every aspect that doesn't work, there's five more that are plain awesome The only bad factor I can think of besides the villains has nothing to do with the show itself. Rather, it's the fact that the villains in this series were handled SO MUCH BETTER in Daredevil s2 and Iron Fist. They went fron this incredibly scary shadowy organization of highly skilled warrior ninjas to get another legion of generic gun/swordsmen led by a "complex" person in a suit. None of it really works at all with the previous shows, and is easily The Defender's biggest flaw. That said, the good stuff in here makes the show worth it in the end.

This show really isn't bad, it's just painfully mediocre. It doesn't really give itself any kind of identity or personality. I suppose one could say the sort of intentionally emotionless voices of the main characters (Onion with an actually decent character design, Apple not so much) make it feel sort of wacky, but it only came across to me as pretty dull. If you like this show, that's perfectly okay, it isn't offensive or something and doesn't do anything wrong... But at the same time, it doesn't really do anything right either. It would have been a lot better if they made funnier situations at the price of cutting out like half of the dancing scenes. Overall, not awful, but easily the most forgettable show I've watched in a very long time.

Not NEARLY as bad as it's been made out to be, but still isn't very good. The only character that isn't a bland trope is the main character, and everyone else is just very dislikeable. The movie gets a few decent laughs every now and then, but not enough to make up for all of the mistakes it makes in the acting, writing, and story. I will say this, though, the special effects were really good. That's the one thing the movie did great. Other than that, eh... Could've been worse, but also could've veen way better. 5/10
