I like and admire what B Sanderson is trying to do in this series. The ideals, spren, cosmere its all really interesting and could be really deep. He's positioned himself to say some pretty interesting things about human nature but it feels like he's trying to stretch it too far as a story arc. I can only take so much of Kaladin's "its hard to live up to ideals", Shallan's "i'll never forgive myself" and the we all just need to be loved blah blah. That stuff is good when given in small doses not when it crowds out the story. This book still had places where it hits strong but a lot of misses. I'm just hoping the saga doesn't end with "congratulations Shinji" because that's kind of where it feels like its going.
