SPOILERS.
I feel so confused about this show…. HUGE fan of the books. I love them. When I was a teenager and even still now as an adult reading them 10years later for the tenth time… I still bawl my eyes out when I read Callum’s death… BUT it is what makes the story SO captivating and DIFFERENT to the other teenage fiction with the happy endings.. The show itself is amazing. If I hadn’t read the books I would love it. But with such a lack of dedication to the book, the entire story is different. Yes, they’ve kept most of the key events in some way, and almost all of the important characters, but changed so many unnecessary things. So many names, relationships and even personalities of characters, it just makes it hard not to be disappointed. Instead of limiting it to 6 episodes they could have increased it and not bunched up the timeline so much. We get no real history of Callum and Sephy’s true friendship, and instead they jump straight into their relationship without seeing the struggle as they try to sort out their feelings for one another. The ending is honestly boring. As much as I always hoped for a different outcome for Callum when I read the book.. it’s necessary for the story and the events that follow.
I don’t know. I can’t make up my mind. Show is great, if you haven’t read the books.
