I loved this book. You'll laugh aloud and then be moved to tears within a few sentences. The audio version is outstanding. McBride paints a cast of characters that will reel you in with a make shift plot of time and place. It is not surprising that it reads so musically as James McBride brings his musicality and sense of cadence to his writing. Read by Dominic Hoffman, who makes it sing.
