The movie tries so hard to be deep and meaningful, but only succeeds to be awkward and embarrassing. When the main character started to sing, I felt second-hand embarrassment. If it isn't a musical, don't force it to be a musical. At least hire an actor who can sing! The movie shoves Springsteen references down your throat every chance it got. Overall, the movie was horrible, and the acting was mediocre at best.
