Wanted to like this but ultimately its silliness condemns it to the trash bin. The director comes from a gilded theatre career and fails to make the transition to film.
Scots nobles dancing in unison would have looked good on stage and the meeting of the two queens (which didn’t happen) was just laughable as they drifted between draped muslin.
And Margot Robbie’s Elizabeth was more Hollywood Wives than 16th Century queen.
Saoirse Ronan was excellent and the Scottish scenery magnificent.
However a Game of Thrones set for Holyrood and black eye shadow on Bothwell was just too much to take.

Close to unwatchable. The story may be true but the telling of it is just silly. Takes television back to the 1950s.
