Absolutely awful what they’ve done to the story. Everything I read talks about how Judkin does his best to try and create a faithful and true recreation of the books for the eyes of the viewer, but the only thing I feel like is truthful is that there are characters with the same name as characters in the books. From small details to large ones, so much was changed or thrown out for reasons I can’t possibly imagine warrant such dramatic removal from the original material. This rift between the books and the show is so bad that I paused multiple times every minute to rant about things that were different, and felt a deep pain in my literature-living soul. If you didn’t read the books, then perhaps you could enjoy the show, but if you did, and you enjoyed the story the books told, I warn you that the show will not be good, and if they continue with the decisions made so far, it never will be.
