I do enjoy this game but it has to be said that it is a terribly optimized piece of software. There's really no excuse for how bad the performance is, even on the Switch's hardware, considering how other games have managed to handle themselves on the platform. It is an exciting new concept for a Pokemon game, which builds really well off the back of Legends Arceus (a much better direction than other recent titles), but you really can't overlook the technical issues, mainly because they are so prevalent in every minute of the game. When did we start to accept the idea that games don't need to deliver a sustainable level of quality? Why do some people dismiss any valid complaints as rabid toxicity or over-exaggeration? This is a multimillion-dollar franchise which serves as a Nintendo Switch flagship game. There's no reason or excuse to justify the level of quality being delivered here. Direction-wise, the story is great. Open world seems like a natural direction for the series, a no-brainer for 3d Pokemon, along with a more open story. Story and design wise the game is sound, but technically it leaves A LOT to be desired.

A classic RPG experience that really hearkens back to the best of Fallout 1/2. This is a game that manages to do something that few other modern RPG's have truly done; make the player feel engaged. From the clever character writing, the use of skills and traits (both positive and negative) you fight, or talk your way through the galactic frontier. Coming from Obisidian, who have a stellar history with RPG classics like Knights of The Old Republic II, the excellent Fallout New Vegas, and more recently South Park Stick of Truth, this experience doesn't simply not let down, but builds on a legacy for delivering the highest quality Role Playing experiences in gaming. In a generation where the genre has become muddled with bland, generic, limited options, restrictive play dashed by paywalls or "bonus" content, and endless worlds that ultimately leave player's feeling overwhelmed by content and underwhelmed by outcomes, The Outer Worlds offers an experience that is exactly what it promised, and a little extra bang for your buck. When it comes to RPGs, just remember one thing; it's not the best choice, it's Spacer's Choice!
