He's not a "failed" London Banker, far from it, it is a subtle comedy which, if you missed the fact about him being a successful trader for a bank I'm not surprised, you missed that it is far more than just a film about the inheritance, take your face out of your pop corn or phone, those who havent seen it do watch it, Ridley Scott gets utterly charmming performances from all the cast, even the dog!
