Life is a masquerade ball and the real face beneath our perfectly portrayed self ,it can be lying, manipulative, insensitive and can also be demeaning. What a breathtaking original by Satyajit Ray, this man can bring the journey of someone’s whole life in a 24 hours train journey so beautifully. Starring Uttam Kumar and Sharmila Tagore ,the two classic actors of the time who can play the role this gracefully. The story is the life of an actor and how much pain he endures in himself and how much lonely he can be, wearing a mask of happiness, fame, glamour and glory. Sharmila Tagore, as a journalist shows a real meaning of ethics and do not spill out the secrets of a glamorous actor to gain publicity. The classic Ray. Always with an hinge of morality in his stories which converts his movie a motivational content. The lightning and the effects in the movie matches the psychological drama and enhances the emotions so consecutively with the effects in the background of the compartments are top notch. This is a not to miss movie.

Pather Panchali, an award winning movie which launched Satyajit Ray’s brilliant career globally. This movie revolves around an innocent young boy and his rebellious sister and their parents who endure daily to meet means to sustain the livelihood. The story is based on a 1929 novel written by the Bengali writer Bibuntibhushan Bandyopadhyay. The theme of the story is simple with a touch of emotional extravagance “poverty does not nulilfy love”. As seen in the movie there are lots of up and down, things also go bitter but the love between them is remarkable. It has the perfect balance of realism and poetic fiction. The cinematography is brilliantly done and the village scenery is gleaming when the fact arises that Ray appointed a new cameraman,Subrata Mitra, who was a still photographer and never have worked in movies, the work was already an award winning. According to me, the movie makes a strong connection and similarly of the situation in 1929 and 2020, people do nothing different when they are impoverished. The dark and cunning character put on by aunt Indir portrays common problem in today’s world and also gives out a loud message of not getting influenced by anyone. But the main feeling in the movie which swept me off was the unconditional love of Apu for his sister, he upholder her dignity by getting away with her defaming deed of theft. The movie is a must watch and my time.
