The thing that I immediately connected was Crip dancing ‘90s style and the similarities to the Kolombia style from the hoods of Central Mexico. But then I thought of grainy early 1900 footage of native dancers from Vancouver with animal masks. It’s somehow all connected this indigenous expression from these beautiful sons and daughters of Aztec royalty. I had never had a true appreciation of this music and dance until now. I see you now. Beautiful, sad, affecting film. It lingers on you.
