The reporters on this show are the top ones who professionally concentrate on the Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court, and the offices and departments of national government. That is why there are no reporters on this show from Des Moines, Dallas, or Boise. They aren't going to White House press conferences, talking regularly to the House of Representatives Leaders or senior U. S. Senators. It's not a long show, there isn't time for anything else. You want regional news, you'll have to get it elsewhere.

I am a sucker for a good B&W movie, but this one has to be one of the last significant Silent films made. That means the usual stagey arch acting, especially by Sam Jaffe, but because it's in keeping with the character and the role, it's not bad, just a bit period. The sets are really spectacular and feel very authentic. If anyone thinks this film is too far afield of the historical truth, they should check out the history, not just from the Russian end, but the Hessian nobility and the tight bonds they kept with the Russian ruling line over a very long time. And, yes, Marlene Dietrich really is something.
