When the show first began the camera crews were actually in the first responding vehicle with the techs. That was really interesting to be in on the action in real time, with some delays.
Then came Paterson, NJ. The only people actually on camera for most of their rescues was the Chief and his second. Mostly, they just drive around trying to find the incident. Upon arrival they want to take charge. After spending about 45 seconds talking to the real first responders they turn to the camera and give us a full report. REALLY? How boring. Now, we are seeing that most of the show involves upper ranked chiefs, assistant chiefs, etc. doing the same thing everywhere. Tonight a chief from Tampa did the same thing. He found the incident in full response, asked a responder what is going on - in 15 seconds, then gave us a full report based on being there for 15-20 seconds.
When a Patterson incident starts I just fast forward rather than watch those two old timers wonder around. Now I am starting to do the same with the other higher ups in their cars or vans. I am not interested in their conversations while trying to find the incident only to arrive as the ambulance is pulling out.
Sorry to say, I am loosing interest in this program because it is more focused on the chiefs and their showing off. I hope that next season you will get back to the original format.
