‘NAGARKIRTAN ‘
As you leave the cinema... you feel a vast emptiness in your heart... you desperately want to reach out to those people whom until now you would usually want to get rid of by hastily putting a ten rupees note in their hands at the traffic signals... or you just want to keep a handsome amount and sometimes even some sweets ready... when they come to your doorstep at a baby shower or in a wedding... so that you don’t have to bear them long.. you just want to finish off with them as quickly as possible.... but now how you wish to sit with them.. share your own thoughts... listen to their stories of love and loss.. which are largely unheard... you want to make them feel wanted and fitted in in this ‘normal’ world ...give them a warm hug of assurance..
This profoundly melancholic story of gender disorientation is so strong that one suddenly realises that the wall between the characters on the celluloid and the audience has simply disappeared...
I don’t have enough words to praise the cast and the crew... Mr Kaushik Ganguly has once again proved his directorial prowess par excellence.. Riddhi Sen simply humbles the audience with his master strokes... and Ritwick Chakraborty is as amazing as always... Nagarkirtan a must watch movie in recent times.
