The book provides insight into the early days of the Lionel Manufacturing Company that have never been available before. The insight includes the key personnel , decision making and challenges as the company evolved from a 2 man operation on Murray Street to an industry leader in Connecticut. The 1905-9 White Street period was critical to this transition.
It is about the functioning of the company, rather than the items made so it is very distinctive from the many books published about Lionel trains.
The second edition includes some terrific period advertising and photos. The Appendix of actual sales figures are fascinating.
Must reading for any serious student of Lionel or simply early 20th century toy manufacturing in America.
