This is probably the most incredible movie I've seen. The visual effects, soundtrack, acting, storyline, etc. all work in harmony to create a wonderful film. I've seen a lot of 1 star reviews talking about how the storyline is too basic and/or the dialogue is sub-par, or people claiming the movie is too unrealistic. It's a FANTASY MOVIE. OBVIOUSLY its not gonna be one of those movies an average person can relate to on a personal level. But that's ok, because that's not what the movie is trying to do. It wasn't made so that Chad from marketing can watch it and think- 'finally, the perfect representation of what it's like to live my life'.
Arguments over the fact that certain themes or storylines such as anti-imperialism and targeting of native cultures (even ones created, like the na'vi) have been overused in film are- to put it nicely- idiotic and ignorant. Sure, the Pocahontas film also followed the story of a native culture being overtaken by foreign entities. However, these two movies are incredibly different and ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO USE SOME OF THE SAME THEMES. I mean, if that's how we're gonna justify hating a film, you could say that Star Wars is invalid due to it almost copying the entirety of the book/film Dune. Honestly, Avatar was so ahead of its time. If you can't understand that, MAN i feel sorry for you. So, in conclusion; watch the movie, understand it- think about how long it took and how much work was put into creating a film like this. In a time where almost every new film is a continuation of an overused series (sorry marvel/star wars), this film stands out like no other. So yeah- watch the movie or else ur a loser <3.
